The LMS module that I’ve attended for the last few months has helped me greatly.
I was taught many interesting techniques that can and WILL improve my life , socially , mentally and maybe physically.
Amongst the various management skills I’ve learn, I find Anger , conflict and stress management the most useful .I would flare up upon the smallest of errors and it has been affecting the relationship with my friends and family. With the re-writing of internal script taught and to look at why you angry . I was able to understand why I was angry and why I SHOULD NOT have been angry. For example, When I fail repeatedly trying to do a trick on a bicycle, I would get fed-up / annoyed and if anything minor were to happen to me , I would get really really angry when in fact the cause of the anger was from the irritation that I was unable to accomplish my trick.
Conflict management styles left a very deep impression on me, every since I’ve attended the class, I became much more aware of the different styles of managing conflict and in my daily life I was able to see and tell the various types of management.
In my LMS group, I was really happy to be in the team I was in. It wasn’t because there was no conflicts at all in actual fact there was quite a number of conflicts within the group. However through these conflicts that occurred within the group. I was able to apply the concepts taught in LMS , I was able to spot the various different styles of conflict handling. For example, When Richard got quite bossy with the team members, The guys in the group would Withdraw and keep quiet like the turtle, While the girl in the group would voice out her opinion and try to get it done her way , like the shark but thanks to the anger management modules and careful guidance of the teacher, the anger and conflict level did not ascend to a point where people started hurting one another.
Despite the conflicts, our group, in my opinion had worked well together for the group assignments.
We were able to hand our tasks to one another, without overburdening members. My members were open to suggestions and they take suggestions into serious considerations.
The problems with time management faced by our group was we did not have enough time for *just incase*. Take for example, In one incident , our video taped had screwed up few days before the presentation submission. We had to rush to finish it up in time. This shows that we did not plan enough time for backup plans but apart from that, things went smoothly for us. We should have finished in time if the tape had not spoilt. We were able to finish our assigned task within the time slots assigned.
However for priority management, our members had clashing priorities. For example, A group mate had to meet up with friends and hence he was unable to meet up for group project discussion. He decided that meeting up with friends was much more important then projects as the submission date was still far away. However this problem was easily rectified , we assigned him certain tasks and he was able to complete it within the time frame given.
My idea of success is to be able to churn out quality work, within the given time frame and also to attain personal satisfaction in doing so.
Through this module, I’ve learned the various ways to manage anger, conflict and stress! It has made me aware of the techniques on how I can keep all these undesired symptoms at bay. With this module, I would gladly say that I’ve improved as a person , mentally. Whenever I find that I have too much school work and feel stressed out , I can use the various techniques to reduce stress taught, I’ve used the distractions and listening to music techniques and it really helped , I was able to clear my mind and resume my work without feeling stress . Also , whenever I’ve a conflict with someone. I would seek to use the owl method, to negotiate and come out with a win win situation. The anger management techniques like re writing the internal script has helped me a lot, after re-writing the internal script , I could better understand why i got angry and how to refrain oneself from repeating it. This has helped me to not only kill the anger but also to prevent it from happening again!
WOW LMS!
